That pic is from Bass Gear Magazine. Tom Bowlus is their editor; maybe he'll know what that is.
For what it is worth, the bridge saddles look an awful lot like the ones on the Godin A4 and A5 semi-acoustic basses.
They're RMC piezo saddles. I have them on my Curbow, and several other makers use them, as well.
PS: Gorgeous bass, whatever it is!
Is that a Listerud? I recognize the headstock on the bass in the background.. I could be on crack though.
If you took Nordstrand, Stambaugh, and Gary Willis....that is the bass you would get.
Couldn't tell you anything specifically about the bass, but that's what it reminds me of. The f-hole reminds me of the bass Yves Carbonne plays.
I think that hole on this bass is more of a stylized cat's eye than an f-hole.
I thought so too. It looks like a Listerud from Norway
That's a Huerenberger Ultra 5 Private Reserve.
The body is said to be hand carved out of boards that were salvaged from the Loch Ness Monster's underwater dwelling by the blind monks of the temple of the cloud azure. The top was made from the finest deckboard on Noah's Ark. Hand-rubbed to perfection by the sacred virgins of Tibet. The hardware is rumored to have been cast from the codpiece of King Henry the VIII. The neck was salvaged from the leg of a 15th century harpsichord that Christopher Columbus was known to "rock out" on. The fingerboard? A structural beam from the original SAAB 9-2 prototype, with some of the manure left in for that "authentic" Nordic aroma.
You could say it's a pretty special bass.
Oh, does f-hole describe the shape? I thought it was just a standard word to describe a hole in a hollowbody.
And you're right that it looks like a cat eye.
Google: No standard web pages containing all your search terms were found.
None of those brands seem to have models like that.
Hahahahahahah, and somemore, hahahaha.
That was quite possibly the funniest post in TB history.
And I think its an F bass. The fretboard, and the body have the F bass look. For sure.
I was thinking F too, but I've never seen an F with a bridge like that.
That was my guess too! Let's make this more interresting. Let's throw some money down. $20 says its an F Bass!
F Bass doesn't have any bodies with f-holes, or neck-throughs.
Umm... I was only kidding about betting $20 you know. Cause, you know....betting for real would like...be wrong...and stuff...
Well thank God talkbass isn't grade 4.
I would've lost ALL my pogs by now.
Not a F bass, Fbass has their own pickups and this is clearly a nordstrand pickup. They also don't have a bass with this shape and their knobs aren't like this and their bridge are different too. To me, it looks like a kind of Groove Shoppe hollow body
