Can anybody identify this bass?

  1. It's up on Craigslist and I think it's an Ibanez, but I can't really tell. The guy says it doesn't have any name on it.

Does look a bit like a SR, but I don't think it is. I'm gonna get singed, but it sort of looks like a Benavente (eek). I doubt it is though (unlucky!).

    benaventeclose.

    benaventewhole.

EDIT : Not mine BTW, so don't ask.

  4. What does the headstock on the Benavente look like?

  5. Nevermind that question. I didn't see the second picture.

That's a pretty close match, but the truss rod nut is down at the heel rather than up at the headstock.

  7. He also said it has EMG pickups if that's any help. I asked him to send me a better picture. :meh:

    It's an early Benavente 219.

  9. How much would this be worth?

  10. Here's the other pic he just sent me.

So which is he selling? The first one is a Wenge top, the second one a Lacewood top.

Ok, that first pic was so crappy, I thought the others posted where better quality of the same bass. Now I see that they're different. Being an early 219, I'd be tempted to say $1500-1800. I feel pretty confident that is around what Brian Barrett was pricing older 219s at last time he had any in his shop.

  15. So $140 would be a good deal, eh? :hyper:

  16. Horrible deal. Don't do it. What's that guy's email again?;)

  17. :D :D :D :D

Yup, it's an early Benavente 519 Custom. My Bennie Greg Edmondson Custom has the same headstock logo.

I paid about $2k for it.
