Can anyone comment on this speaker?

    I found a cheap old 2x15 cab I thought I could use at home. It has two Altec Lansing 415B. Are those any good? How many watts can they handle?

    (Edited: it has Altec 418B speakers, not 415)
  2. I think you probably mean you found some 515B's, and don't play your bass through them! Sell them on eBay for $150 each, then buy some Altec Lansing 421A's, which were designed for bass guitar use.

    Some folks say the 515B is the best 15" woofer ever built, but that's for music reproduction, not bass guitar playing. I say the 421A is the best woofer ever built for bass guitar.

    On the chance that it is actually a 416-8B, then that is like the 2nd best music reproduction woofer, but I wouldn't use it for bass. It would probably just damage it.

    I checked inside the cab and it said it was Altec 418B speakers. Do you know anything about those?
    They sound great in an oldshool way with a P-bass.
