I've had great difficulty trying to date any of the G&L basses. Can anyone give me any clues based on these pics?

    From G&L's FAQ

WHAT YEAR WAS MY G&L PRODUCED ?

G&L instruments produced since mid-2010 are shipped with a Custom Build Specifications sheet which includes the date the instrument was completed.

There are also dates labeled on the neck heel and inside of the body. These will give you an approximate idea of when the instrument was completed, typically within one to two weeks of the latter of the two dates shown.

From the early 1980s to early 1997, serial numbers were typically stamped into a neck plate. The serial numbers for guitars began with “G0” (G zero) and basses began with “B0” (B zero). However, in rare instances there are guitars which began with “B0” and basses which began with “G0” on neck plates as the factory may have run out of the appropriate plates.

Some early guitars and basses had serial numbers stamped into the bridge plates. These are usually from 1980 to about 1982.

From early 1997 to about mid-1998, serial numbers for guitars and basses began with “CL” and were applied as a decal to the back of the headstock.

From mid-1998 on, the serial numbers for guitars and basses began with “CLF”.

If you believe your G&L was made between 1980 and 1992, you may also reference the Chronology & Dating page. There is some information about later chronology on this page as well.

and from the G&L discussion page

From 1980 through 1996 and into 1997, serial numbers of the form GXXXXXX were used for guitars
and serial numbers of the form BXXXXXX were used for basses. The two notable exceptions to this
are the "GF" and "BC" serial numbers, used (respectively) for the George Fullerton Signature
    Model
and the Broadcaster. Beginning in late 1997, G&L employed serial numbers of the
form CLXXXXX, where - as verified by G&L's Dave McLaren - CL stands for
"Clarence Leo" (note that Leo Fender's full name was "Clarence Leo Fender").
This was changed 1-2 years later to the scheme of CLFXXXXX, for all serial numbering.

In February 2011, serial numbering was updated to CLFXXXXXX and the serial number applied onto
a metal plate in place of the waterslide decal on the back of the headstock.
This was started with serial number CLF061000 and numbering was issued in sequence.
Note: Some Special Build and Limited Edition instruments can still be found with the previous water slide serial numbering.

Based on those two bits of info, it could be made anywhere from mid-98 to 2010, roughly.
The part in bold above about removing the neck is your best bet to narrow it down.

1998-2004, I could get closer with a pic down into the truss rod opening.

A date will also be written on the pocket area of the neck, if you ever have it apart.

I guess I wouldn't have anything against that as long as she doesn't want to get too serious ;)

I am sorry I have nothing of value to add, save for a terrible joke.

It's got the later truss rod so it's 2005-2010. Nice bass!

Oh no! Not the serious type. She'll only be wearing a G string. Oh, and a D string. And an A string and also an E string.

Similar to my bass with a G&L neck. I'm sure I got this neck in the late 80's, like 88 or 89. G&L By Leo Fender.jpg

I searched your serial number for L2000’s on the registry and based on other ones on there...they have the serial # listed with the year...do the search and you will see what I mean...plus I am a G&L junkie...LOL...anytime!
You serial #is not there but you look at serial #’s lower and higher then yours and what year those are...

Got it! Looks like 2010. I'll check the neck and body date (didn't know that would answer my question when I started this inquiry!) and register there. Thanks so much!
