I'm just curious on how the bass was invented and how it evolved. Like in was their a desire for deep sounding instruments. Did somebody in the 13th century when composing say to himself, "hey, I need something to lower to make the place rumble". Also, I know Fender didn't make the first bass guitar, so what happened to the other designs before Fender? And how did Fender come up with the "magic tone" with their P Bass and Jazz bass that became the industry standard in 1951? How did they decide on the right tone and design? All of these different things I'd love to read about.
