Hi there! I have what i believe to be a Fender 2x15 cabinet. I've owned it for about 10 years. It is in a rather bad state as previous owner decided to rip 4 holes (vents!) in the front panel, the original vent is in the bottom of the cab, it's also missing original corners. The cab is fitted with two 15 inch 300w speakers (not original), has recessed handles on both sides and 2 input jack sockets at the back panel. Thera are also 2 small holes after original scratchplate at the back of the amp in the top left corners next to jack sockets. The front panel with a grillcloth is missing. Could anyone please tell me what model it s and if possible tell me what was the colour of orignal grillecloth as well as the corners. I would lso like to find out what was the year it was produced. I saw either the same or very similar cab on the flickr and it had a black grillcloth and white binding around it it was Fender Bassman 215. Below are the links to the set of pictures of this cab on flickr. http://www.flickr.com/photos/mdmarszalek/3751317041/in/set-72157621805579498/ http://www.flickr.com/photos/mdmarszalek/3752114198/in/set-72157621805579498/ http://www.flickr.com/photos/mdmarszalek/3752119084/in/set-72157621805579498/ http://www.flickr.com/photos/mdmarszalek/3751341545/in/set-72157621805579498/ http://www.flickr.com/photos/mdmarszalek/3752138928/in/set-72157621805579498/ http://www.flickr.com/photos/mdmarszalek/3751356409/in/set-72157621805579498/ http://www.flickr.com/photos/mdmarszalek/3751364611/in/set-72157621805579498/ Any hints would be greatly apreciated! Thank you Marcin
It looks similar to my Ampeg B25B... but only in its overall shape and rollers on the bottom. Mine doesnt have the recessed handles...
It appears to be just like my Fender Bassman 70 2x15. But yours doesnt appear to be as deep as mine. May just be the photo. Anyway I love the tone of mine. I replaced the stock fender spkrs with JBL E-130's about 25 years ago and its still kickin "arse" http://viewmorepics.myspace.com/ind...itAlbumPhoto&albumID=2515063&imageID=40068690 http://viewmorepics.myspace.com/ind...itAlbumPhoto&albumID=2431169&imageID=35628317
Looking at the shelf port, you can see the beefed up material where the wheels pop in just like mine. To bad someone had to hack a good cab
Found another pic. side shot. I replaced the flimsy Fender handles with heavier Peavey handles. http://viewmorepics.myspace.com/ind...itAlbumPhoto&albumID=2515063&imageID=44561896
Hi Tony, Many thanksfro the reply. Unfortunately i can't view the pics on myspaceas the massage comes up that they have been either deleted or marked as private by user. Can you email them to me on [email protected] Once again thanks for your help! P.S you're right about the sound of the cab!
I don't know why so many people get excited enough about obvious junk to want to know something about it. I have to say though, the guy fired four shots and put up a real nice pattern.
Could have been some of our work in the 70's sitting around the campfire drinken beer and shootin at stuff. BOB
To each his own but I've hammered this cab for several years without any complaints at all. Great warm tone, great punch, great definition. Bought it new in 82 I think if memory serves.
My advise would be If you like the cab, change the baffle board. The cab is already ported and really pad the interior. Get spkrs that are rated for the int. volume of the cab. You wont be disapointed.
I'm all for building cabs and upgrading existing ones, but... You're suggesting he replace the baffle board and the speakers on a junk cab that was poorly designed in the first place? He'd be better off buying new speakers and a baffle board...and then building a whole new (and newly designed) cabinet around that.
The original port is so tiny as to be almost non-existent. Chuff city with any decent driver from this century. So I can see why someone would want to re-port it. But I'm certain it was done without any knowledge of tuning properly for the internal volume and the drivers, and the tool of choice was apparently either rodents in partial muzzles, or firearms.
