    Hmm, hate me if you will, and call me what you want....

    ...but my old Squier 5-stringer does just that for me ;). VERY deep, clean lows, very resonant body and growly as hell when you want it to! :)

    Elrick New Jazz Standard, 35 in scale. . . used, around $1300-$1500. I don't know whether you meant there or the $300-$500 range. Sorry if I'm way off. . . :confused: :D
