If you have real bartolini pickups (not mk1's), Can you take a lose e or a string and see if it sticks to the top of your pickup? I'm having string pull issues. I need less powerful magnets on this bass. If they dont stick or barely pull, can you post the model? Thank you in advance.
Bart’s are really low magnetic pull, emg even more so. If you have those issues one would say they are adjusted to high.
They are lower than I want them and I'm still not happy . I dont have Barts, im considering moving to Barts as a fix. My old mk1s had virtually no pull. That's what I'm after, I just dont care for their sound.
I'd rather just get pickups I can run closer than 1/2" to the strings. What I have causes fret buzz at my desired action height. Please dont tell that's not possible because I've posted a video here in very long thread proving it already and nordstrand confirmed it. Nordstrand and I both thought swapping from the dual coils to the Big singles would resolve the issue and it is better but still there. Nordstrand are just too powerful for my set up. This is why I'm asking for specific models of bartolini.
I originally wanted emg but I have bart sized pickup holes . I chose nord because they will make the correct size and emg woul not. So I've come back around to bartolini. I need the p2 size specifically.
most pickups without visible polepieces will work better in terms of distance to the underside of the string. barts and aguilar dcb for example....
I use bartolini T4CBC classic bass series on my Ibanez and I can tell you they have very little string pull. Do your current pickups have exposed pole Pieces?
Yes they do. My issue is I like really open bright sounding pickups. I dont know if I'll be happy with the Barts but at least it will be playable.
There are so many different Bartolini pickups (with wildly different magnet and steel internals) that you won't know until you have the pickup in hand. Believe me
You have any recommendations as to the the most open sounding? Barts seem to be known mostly for their tame top end. I definitely want a lively sound.
Check out Bartolini b-axis. Supposed to be on the brighter side. Not sure if they have low magnetic pull though, never used em. Their classic bass line is brighter too.
You could also try the mk1's again with a different preamp? A different preamp can make a world of difference in your tone and you already stated that the mk1's had virtually no pull. Food for thought.
