Can I damage my cab?

Discussion in 'Amps and Cabs [BG]' started by Timebutt, Feb 11, 2006.

  1. Hi,

I run my pass through a Peavey Max 450 (450W @ 2ohm) through a Peavey 115BX cab (4ohm, 350W) and a Peavey 210TX cab (4ohm, 175W). The amp features DDT speaker protection so it doesn't output signals higher than 450W.

Now every time I play in the band and lets say boost the bass or play louder (so I need more watts) and I see the DDT speaker protection activated (red led) I fear I could blow my speakers, because each cab is given 225W while the 210TX is only rated @ 175W (peak 350W). Now, is my fear grounded and is there an actual risk I could damage the speaker or is this I should not worry about if the DDT protection only gets activated like 2 times per rehearsal?

    Thank you for your advice,
