I have a boss Tu-2 tuner. My band tunes a hlaf step down or one flat. I usually set the tuner to bass one flat. No problem with that. ......but when I tune it shows the string number. ex 1=g 2=d etc. But what do I do when I use a "drop D" tunning?? I thought about setting it at chromatic, but it doesnt account for the half step tunning.

    Am I missing something?? Help!!

For drop D, fret the E string at the 7th fret and tune it down to an A.

Odie, the TU-2 does account for half-step tuning. There's a little light to one side of the note name that signifies it being sharp. Since I switched from guitar to bass and back a lot with that tuner, I just left it in chromatic.

Just set the tuner to chromatic mode, and tune the bass to whatever notes you are using. So if the bass is a half step down, it would be EbAbDbGb (or D#G#C#F#). If you drop your lower string another whole step from that, it would be a Db (or C#).
