can i do this with the yamaha NE-1???......

  1. 1.use it as a DI box to a mixing board or computer?
    2.use it as a preamp, going straight into a PA

    i'm happy with my tone at the mo so number 1 is what i most want it for, and i have an opputunity to get a new one for £35 ($56)

    A DI is supposed to match the impedence level between your instrument and the mixer so you don't mess it up. And usually a DI has a XLR out (or a balanced TRS out).

    As for the preamp thing thing, maybe but I tend to think the NE1 as just a pedal without a footswitch on it.

    If you really need a DI, you can easily get a decent one for under $100, otherwise, save up for a SansAmp Bass Driver DI (I think that's what it's called). I had one for a while...
