Anybody have experience running a fender jass deluxe (98 model) at 18v? I want a bit more headroom on teh preamp, and I am just wondering if anyone else has done it.

    I don't see why not.

I saw a used squier Stanard P that a guy did some funky crap with... sanded the shinzat out of that neck, it felt like a J, then he added some EMG's, a bad ass II, and had an 18 volt system in there. it was pimp.

what I mean mike, is if I can turn my existing stock preamp into 18 volt. The one in that p-bass you speak of was surely aftermarket. Or it could have been a 9 volt preamp, with 9 volt EMG's. I just don't want to try it and fry my preamp. I don't feel like rewiring an active bass that I don't HAVE to do.

You might fry the pre-amp if it's not able to handle the 18V. I'd tell you to call Fender but thier Customer Support is useless.
