Can I make my bass sound like a Stingray at all?

As some of you may know (most likely not though), I own a Cort GB24 bass. Its got a stingray like humbucker pickup but theres one thing about it...

It's not very stingray sounding! (This may sound dumb.)

What could be the factors to this? Is it possible for me to get that sound on such a different bass?

(Sorry if this is more of a Pickups topic.)

:bawl: I'm such a newbie! :bawl:

Probably not - if you've ever picked one up - Stingrays are big, heavy things and this body and neck mass, undoubtedly contributes to the tone as much as the pickup.

As well as wood quality, bridge, neck assembly and general construction quality.

To approach the MM sound, a preamp would be a good first step.
It would allow boosting your highs and lows.

You can put all the parts and $$ into that Cort bass as you want, and it will never sound like a 'Ray. If you're that dead set on finding a Ray-like sound, consider just getting a used Ray. They are their own beasts, and anybody who tells you they've modded any other bass to sound like a Ray, have likely never owned a Ray . . .
