Can I play my amp with no cabs connected, using headphones to hear? I've got an SWR WM's 4004 and I have yet to play it (I have to get the 215 fixed) and I'm just anxious to play through it. What about connecting it to my Peavey combo (power amp in) if I keep the volume low - is either of these things safe?

    1) Yes. It's only dangerous to amps with a tube poweramp.

    2) Yes. But NEVER connect the speaker out to anything else than a speaker. You can use the line out, preamp out or FX send to connect to the Peavey's poweramp in.

One more thing,do NOT ever plug your headphones into the speaker out! -Luke
  4. The bulk of what I have learned regarding amps, speakers, ohms, watts, hook up ideas, whatever, has come from reading the owners manual of my SWR SM 900. I hope they're still written that way (simple, intelligent and friendly) now that Fender has taken over.

I have an Eden head, the manual says you can just use headphones, but I don't think it's a good idea. I'd wait to run it through your cab's. IMHO

    I agree.
  7. There's no problem, so no need to wait. Solid State is fine and dandy running with no load.
