Can I run a 8 ohm cab and a 4 ohm cab off my stewart 2.1?

Discussion in 'Amps and Cabs [BG]' started by bkchang79, May 24, 2003.

  1. I have the stewart 2.1 and since it's a dual mono amp, can I run one channel at 4 ohms and the other channel at 8 ohms? How would a accugroove tri 110 and a epifani T212 sound together?

Yes you can run each cabinet on it's own channel.
This IMHO would be the best way for you to run it because you will be able to control the volume of each cabinet independently and obtain a better balance between the cabinets.
If you run the cabinets together in parallel, the four ohm cabinet will be drawing twice as many watts as the 8 ohm cabinet and you will not have independent control of each cabinet's volume.

i routinely run 2 8 ohm cabs off one side of my 2.1 for a 4 ohm load and another 8 ohm on the other side

how would those cabs sound together? - ya just gotta try it - fwiw, you probably will like them better stacked than side-by-side
