  1. i have a yamaha emx62m powered mixer ... 200 watts at 4 ohms... 100 at 8. could i run a pa cab with 80 watts rms at 8 ohms safely?(160 watt peak on the speaker if that matters) or could i run 2 of them at 200 watts safely? or... will it blow them ?

    :p

Either with one or two cabs, you will be pushing slightly more power than the cabs are meant to handle. If you keep the volume levels low, it would do in a pinch, but at high volumes, you risk melting down your speakers.

I suggest looking at eBay or in some pawn shops for some more capable speakers.

You can do this no problem.. Just keep the master level turned down.. I prefer to have a larger power amp than what a given cab is rated for. I run my rig that way and I have yet to have a single problem
