I have one of the early FNA's that has Duncan electronics with the vol pull switch for the slap setting. I don't slap so its not something I need. I would like to make that an A/P switch so I can hear what the bass sounds like through my Tone Hammer DI without stacking it with the Duncan. This may not be possible but thought I'd give it a shot.
The Duncan preamp is unlike almost all other preamps I have worked with and I have tried many times to wire one with the active passive option. The problem is the volume pot is at the end of the line after the signal from the pickups has passed through the balance pot and preamp. This makes it impossible to wire a switch separate or use the push pull of the volume pot for active passive switching with any control of tone or volume. With normal preamps the balance and volume are adjusted before going through the preamp board only the Duncan has it after so unless you are willing to have two volume pots you cant do it with having any control over volume. This has been my experience with them and standard switching and I have worked on more than 50 preamps with all kinds of custom wiring. If anyone else has done it I would love to know how they did it because I have literally spent hours trying to figure out how to do it and with the knowledge and experience I have it was a fail every time.
Well...... Anybody need/want to trade for a Seymour Duncan pre? I'm now in the market for a Bartolini pre! Thanks for answering at least I know now.
What's the model of the SD pre you have? Config? 3 band? I got a Bart with 3 band and a 3 mid freq switch
It's the basslines model with the push/pull slap switch. One pickup w/ V-T-M-B. the board has two micro adjusters to set the T-B levels when the slap setting is engaged.
