I'm currently a second year electronics student at a technical college. My goal is to become an amp tech. I've messed with car amps but never instrument amps. Can anybody recommend a book on instrument amplifier technology and troubleshooting. Preferably one not written for electronics noobs. But then again I'll look at a noob book too.:bassist:

Check out Kevin O'Connor's books at londonpower.com. Also the tech info pages at aikenamps.com.

Kevin gives lots of good info you just can't get anywhere else. They are not "Everything you need to know to design tube amp" books though. He assumes you already know a lot. I think TUT would be best for a college electronics/audio person with no tube experience. I have books I and III, and both were worth the money.

If you're interested in power amp technology, there are High Performance Power Amplifiers by Ben Duncan and Audio Power Amplifier Design Handbook by Douglas Self. Both are published by Newnes and available from Focal Press.
