The pickguard differs from the one on the Blazers though.

    Custom pickguard?

that's definitely a blazer neck. i wonder if he swapped out the neck on a fender.

I saw Mick Quinn w/ Supergrass playing one of those blazers the other night on BBC america. Wondered what kind of Ibanez it was (was pretty sure it was some sort of Ibanez from the old headstock shape).
    Sounded very P'ish.

i think it's a blazer body as well. THe upper horn and contour look the same.

He just had a fresh mirror pickguard put on so he could check his look between songs......

here is my freshie '83 Ibanez Musician "Bean" Bass.

The pic just looks stretched. It isn't.

It sounds so good. Check out them crazy pickups!!!

Bassheavy, I was wondering what that Musician was when I checked your looked like an Alembic Essence with I see the truth of it. Nice!
I think Sting used to play a fretless Musician?

    Blazer Bass!!!

    Man, too late...again!

I had one. Really solid bass. Had a burr on the bridge which cost me many a G string. Better bass than today's Ibanezes IMO.

On most of the fenders I saw him with, he had the chromed pick guards.

If you guys want to see something really odd, track down the Lizzy video for Do Anything You Want To Do...They are all playing BC Rich's! Must've been a payola type deal. Phil looked like Blackie Lawless. hehehehe

Lynnot had a deal with Iba in the early '80s, saying "Blazer only".

Where did you guys get those "broshure pics"? I had a Musician back then, but I can't remember the model....

I used to have an old Ibanez Musician Studio 8 string. It sounded great. Unfortunately, the neck was beyond twisted, and I was too young at the time to know what to do with it. So, I traded it for a fretless PBass.

My first bass was an old Ibanex Roadstar II. Great first bass. Oh, the mutations that bass went through.... I don't think I've played an Ibanez made after 1986 that I've liked. But, that's just me.
