can someone post some bass pics with differnt finishes

    Well im currently about to order my new bass. I want to know what finish to put on it i know there is a couple of choices like tung oil, satin finish , thats all i can think of.

    Depends on the wood.

    I've played a pre-CBS Precis sanded down to wood that sounded great - hard as hell punch

    My cocobolo top on my custom would darken as it oxidizes, so the luthier put on a light poly coat with an anti-oxidant mixed in.

    Nitrocellulose is a classic if you don't mind waiting a decade or two for it to loosen up, crack, and let the wood "breath" (thats a big reason why pre-CBS Fenders sound so damn good)

    French polish is the ultimate, IMO. The trouble is finding someone who will do it.

    Poly is okay but it really seals off the wood, tonally, IMO, unless it done with great skill.

    Tung oil is wonderfu, IMOl. But it takes maintenance.
