Can you explain music video credits?

  1. Song Title
    Label / Label

What does it mean when the multiple labels are listed at the bottom? Was it co-released by the labels? Or is it label / distributor? Sometimes we see Label / Label / VideoFACT...In Canada, VideoFACT funds independent music videos.

often times artists create their own labels(very often) but they must stay within their contracts and not leave their parent label. So while they are using their advances to buy studios and produce albums, they are ultimately still working under whatever other label.

I think it has to do with joint-ventures (j-v, for this thread.)

Say company 'A,' one of the big record labels has a big time, big selling artist. Comp. 'A' gives the artist $$ to form j-v 'B' and sign artists they discover (passing a cut of the $$ back to 'A'.) 'B' then gets their big artist, and gives them $$ to form j-v 'C.' 'C' makes $$ on talent they discover, gives a cut to 'B,' then 'B' gives a cut of that to 'A.'

    Make sense?

The only example I can think of on the top of my head is:

    'A' Interscope
    'B' Aftermath Records (Dr. Dre)
    'C' Shady Records (Eminem)

I think that is how those particular labels are set up.
