Can you help? I need the tab for Small Axe

  1. I have tried to learn the song by ear and it's not working out. My band really wants to play the song, and so do I! Does anyone out there have the tab for this Bob Marley song?

If you don't have the tab but you know how to play it, can you give me some info on where to start out? I figure if I have at least some info I'll be able to learn the rest.

  2. I found a guitar tab on google here, but it has chord changes so there is something to start with at least. The intro is the same as the chorus I think. The bass pretty much sticks to playing major triads or scale tones, except on the verse it generally goes root-six-five (e.g. for the Eb chord it would go Eb, down to C then Bb) and repeats that pattern for each chord.

    VERSE: Eb, Bb, F, F7

    CHORUS:
    Bb________Eb__Bb
If you are a big tree,

    Bb________F____Bb
    We are the small axe

    Bb__________Eb_____Bb
sharpened to cut you down (we shall)

    Bb______F______Bb
ready to cut you down, oh yeah

    Does that help?

  3. Yes, that helps quite a bit. Thank you very much.
