Can you ID my unknown bass?

Discussion in 'Basses [BG]' started by Mr-Bassman, Feb 17, 2008.

  1. Picked this up in the mid 90's used. No markings at all anywhere on the bass. Not a single number or letter anywhere. Any ideas?

    Looks like a Charvel/Jackson headstock.

profile used the same headstock design also on some of their units.

that would be one of my guesses.

A Charvette I think. Looks too cheap for a Charvel.

  9. It has quite a few chips and seems to be the original paint. I'm surprised at the lack of any markings. Havent opened up the control cavity; perhaps some secrets are in there

  10. Yeah I looked all over the net
has the distinctive Jackson/Charvel headstock but I cant seem to find any models
that have the 3 inline strat style knobs

  11. not much info in there. Seems to be a laminated plywood bass, unshielded cavity, 500K pots with a "JP" logo in a small square stamped in the middle of the pots. Probabally a nice wall decoration more than anything else but I'm curious as to what it is. Thanks for input so far fellow TBers

Some years ago, I had a '80s P-bass copy called "Ranger" which I think had a headstock and tuners similar to your bass. But I have never seen another "Ranger" bass.

I've seen one of those before. It also didn't have any markings on it, and the two-piece saddles.

    ...which doesn't help.

I thought Jackson. Why do you have three of the tuners strung one way, and one the other way? That's got to get confusing.

  19. Could it be a J.B. Player? Thinking the JP on the pots might be from this company.
