Here's one for the string experts. The strings are on an older bass that I just bought on the bay. They are dead but the B string sounds deeper than any other strings that I have tried. The ball end tapers down to about 1/4 of the original diameter on the B string where they pass over the bridge saddles, still wound not just the core. The tuner peg ends taper down to the exposed core. They are wrapped in gold to slightly tan silk over the taper. The ends are the bare core with no silk wrapping.
