Can you play this fluidly?

This looks easy at first, at least so i thought, but it's in 110 BPM, and those are 16th notes... and you can't use hammer-ons. I'm struggling. This is just an excerpt of a piece from one of my books. I think it's by Geddy.

    I been everywhere, man...
    None. At all.
One of the many problems with TAB is that the suggested fingerings are almost always inefficient and awkward.

A big step towards making this easier to perform is to play what's listed as open A, D,and G strings as fretted notes.

I haven't been playing it the way the TAB says to. TAB doesn't really register on my radar. Usually I don't even notice the TAB is there until I'm halfway down the page. :) I'm pretty sure my fingers are able to play it, but my brain can't work with my fingers well enough to do it.

That's awesome if you can easily ignore TAB, I find it very distracting, my reading is good, but not great, and whenever I get frustrated with anything, it's always so tempting to just glance at the TAB(if it's there)

I really don't like TAB at all, but sometimes it's hard to find transcriptions without it :(

Those are dotted eighths, not dotted sixteenths.

I figured that's what playing 'fluidly' meant - not putting down your drink!

I have no doubt this is simple exercise level for some of you veterans, but I've only been playing 1 1/2 years and I'm not great at reading bass clef yet. :p ;)

If you're having trouble with it, play it really slow and then gradually work your way up.

I disagree... To me it's more efficient with the open strings, most of the notes are in first position, with a pivot to hit the D# and a pivot to hit the C.

That's how I've been doing it :). For some reason there is something about the second line that doesn't want to stick in my head though. :meh:

  20. it is playable (ofcourse), but I think it's quite useless to learn it at 110BPM, better learn it 80 and watch your finger settings (technique)more (better play it tight at 80 than sloppy at 110). If you're technique is right it shoudn't be much of a prob though. (btw tabs are really not good)
