Yes! Ive changed my pickups! now I'm EMG'ed 40DC's plus BQC Control. I have to disagree with the comments about EMG's being sterile and trebly. They are pretty much alive... The tone comes out WAY more defined than the original (crap) pickups.
The BQC is quite versatile also... I'm posting some sound clips. Crappy technique & tempo, but I think you can get my point.
Especially considering that you have the active EQ, here's something to try - especially worthwhile is the "temporary" mod at the bottom of the page, which you can try with no actual changes to the bass. Just pay attention to polarity!
Add a second battery for 18volts! <---link!
All sound were recorded this way:
Bass -> ME6B Bypassed (for coupling purposes) -> Sound Blaster AWE64 -> Sound Forge 6 (no effects)
Mid Freq 25%
Mid Freq 0%
I'm considering add another battery, but my control cavity is tiny...
The one on the left looks like a bass. The one on the right looks like a white box with a red X in it.
Nice Condor, I didn't know that spector-like model.
Killer slap2 tone.
Same here, I even tried to enlarge it, it only became a bigger X. It still stayed red too.
Me neither... This bass used to belong to Claudinho & Buchecha Bass Player (Fabio Lessa) and had barts on it. When I bought it, he returned the original pickups.
I'm amazed how versatile are these p/u + BQC
strange... the image is from the attachment on the second post... try to click on the attachment...
Sorry, PoT... I thought you were kidding...
I selected properties and the size is "-1 bytes."
Congrats on the new pups.
