Can you slap w/ Ampeg?

Discussion in 'Amps and Cabs [BG]' started by Diezel420, Aug 15, 2001.

  1. I've played one Ampeg (SVT4-PRO/SVT 8x10) and I noticed the great tone with fingerstyle and pick playing. But I DIDN'T try slapping. I noticed on their site that, amongst users, very few were slappers, and those that were were old school (Bootsy, TM Stevens and the like). I just wanna know if you can get a decent (somewhat modern) slap tone from an SVT.

    Thanks!!!!!!

  2. Yeah, Ampeg's can get you great tone in any style, unless you need a super-clean, sterile sound. Remember that the sound varies so much so you have to play with the settings a lot. The midrange position switch has a HUGE effect on the sound. Just play with it, till you get it right.

In my opinion Ampeg´s are good for slapping as long the cabinet has a Tweeter/Horn.
    The SVT810E doesnt have one.
You could have a 610HE wich has it.
