I have a U.S. Fender Deluxe 5 J-Bass that has the 4-1 headstock with the smaller plastic butterfly tuning keys. I've seen now that Fender has returned to the large metal tuning keys on the newer J-Basses. Does anyone know if Fender will allow you to trade necks?

Even trade? I doubt it, but you might be able to purchase a replacement neck if you want one. Might be easier to get an after market and apply a decal.

It has been my experience that Fender necks, by themselves, are fairly difficult to come by. However, that was a while ago. Give them a call.

No not an even trade. I would expect to be charged. I wondered that if you went to a Fender dealer if they could trade the necks. I had to do this once before but the neck had a defect.
