Thank you very much!
Tight little board; love the great looking guard-cat, too.
Compressor is here, and first pic with the multidrive back on:
Multidrive -> VMT -> Wah -> comp ->Nebulus -> Tuner -> reverb -> B7K
I don't think it's just GAS relief, but the Empress comp brings some special sauce relative to the MXR I'd been running. It seems to bring beef, evenness and sustain, but without squashing natural dynamics (that mix knob really does it for me). I love it so far, it I certainly see why so many love pairing it with the B7K.
Please give me an Empress club number. I run my Empress comp first in the chain after the tuner. Its almost always on with a 4:1 setting and a 3:00 blend. I have put in a 2.2nF high pass filter in the sidechain socket as per the youtube video - but am not sure what difference it makes. At the end of my chain is a B7K which is also on most of the time but with only a hint of dirt.
You can add a HEAVY to my Empress list, picked one up here for a great
price a while ago, lovin' it!

I have the Empress Para E.Q. I love experimenting with it's knobs when stacked with just about any other kind of pedal.
I just posted a new thread that has to do with potentially acquiring a Nebulus. I made it its own thread rather than ask in here because it's not specific to that pedal only.
Feel free to come comment.
Chorus/Flanger: Empress Nebulus or…?
It just occurred to me right now that I might not need a Nebulus, or any chorus/flanger unit, after all.
It's a bit late now, but tomorrow morning I will experiment with my Tape Delay. I think I may be able to draw an interesting sound in combination with the Multidrive, in the spirit of a chorus or similar effect.
Eager to play.
Hi, followers of the Empress Temple.
Please pray for me. If providence is with me for 4 more days, I will own a 4th Empress pedal: a Nebulus.
I will know if I can close the deal by Monday evening.
This is very exciting.
WHERE MAH ZOIA?
Gawd! I did not get the cheque that I was expecting, but I did get the assurance that I would get it tomorrow...
So I contacted the seller again. We're meeting tomorrow for the sale.
You can practically add a Nebulus to my board!
So as of tomorrow, it should be:
Raman -> G&L 2500 bass -> Empress Tape Delay -> Empress MultiDrive -> Empress Nebulus -> Empress Compressor -> Tech21 Sansamp bass DI -> amp
Hey, where's everybody in this thread? Canada doesn't rock, eh, anymore?...
Anyways, I scored the Nebulus today. Will try it out shortly.
This thread has never quite been as active as I would have hoped...my Compressor is always on, my Multidrive is my go-to guitar dirt, my Heavy is my favorite high gain distortion, and I'm desperately waiting for Zoia news...
I had a gig last weekend in a bit of nightmare room that I've had to play a couple of times over the years. This was the first time I had a manageable bass sound. Some credit goes to the Mesa Subway 15 cab, but the Empress ParaEQ was the difference maker. I tamed the boomy lows and low mids and got some good punch as a result. LOVE this pedal.
If I buy another Empress, it would be that one. But what I have to tame now is my g.a.s.
So my chain as of Christmas of 2018 :
Bass (G&L L-2500 or Fender P) ->
Empress Compressor -> Empress Multidrive -> Empress Nebulus -> Empress Tape Delay -> Empress Echo System -> Tech21 SansAmp Driver/DI
Life is good
That sounds like a very good setup.
