I'm not an Avatar owner, but I have enough experience to tell you a bit about fees. You will normally be charged GST plus PST on the insured value (converted into Canadian dollars). Example: Insured value = $800.00USD = $1001.90CDN today In Ontario tax (GST+PST) adds about $150.29CDN There may also be other fees added, but this is roughly what you'll pay. Normally I ask folks to ship via Fedex when possible. This saves $60.00 brokerage fee that UPS charges on every shipment, as well as some additional charges that find their way in there.
Hmmm. My last two years worth of UPS invoices (21 of 'em) disagree. There's a $40-$45 USD brokerage charge on all of these. Perhaps times have changed. Thanks for catching the country of origin - my orders were for U.S. goods. They'll take the higher amount of declared or insured value. Cheers
Yes, my original post does kinda sound like I've got my thumbs stuck into my suspenders. I know we'll all agree that we are charged far too much - taxes, fees, exchange and otherwise!
