    Hello Everyone,

I'm trying to come up with a list of Canadian Bass Guitar Makers.

My list is really short, can anyone add to this list and possibly any websites involved.

    So far........

    Dingwall
    Godin
    F Bass

I've also heard of a brand called 'Prestige' out in B.C.

    Thanks in advance,

    -Chris

  2. I understand that Lado still makes some reasonably respectable instruments.

Vadim Rubstov, from Toronto, can be found here. Also this site has a few.

  5. Good call! Vadim has built some incredible basses and his craftsmanship is right up there with the best.

    Wow......quite the response.

Yep, I thought those 'Prestige' Basses were a sham. Steer Clear!

I once heard of Kinal, they look like nice instruments. Nice basses! The SK-5B kind of has the Lakland look, the others are a little more unique....which is cool!

    You mean JAF?

They're building one for me now. Awesome customer service... and great looking basses too! Can't wait to see how they sound!

Hey Mike.........I think your touting your own horn!

JAF Basses does have great customer service.
Fast e-mail responses, too.....thanks to mikgag!

From someone that's "not" affiliated with JAF Basses.

Vector (nick tipney) makes electric basses, (guitars and DB) as well as cellos, viola, and violins. He's in The middle of no where in Nova Scotia. Believe me, it took me forever to get there. i didn't know you could live that far "out of the way"

  14. Locals around Saskatoon, are of course Dingwall, Fury, and Pura.

I don't know a lot about Pura. I think it's small time, but good quality.

There's a guy in the Toronto area that makes a bass called Dragon Eddy. I know a couple of guys who have them, and they love them.

  17. Another one you might not know is Brad Freiheit, a really fine luthier in the K-W area (I think he's in Baden or New Hamburg). Doesn't have a website, PM me if anyone wants his contact info. I've played one of his custom instruments at a local shop (Sherwood Music, if any locals want to check it out), and it is very nice! :D

    He also makes guitars.:p

edit: fixed his name, and confirm he is in Baden, ON

  18. I was going to post Larrivee because they used to make an ABG, but they don't anymore (too bad) I emailed them about it, and it may come back in the future but they were very non-commital about it. I have seen some older Larrivee electric guitars and basses for sale on ebay. So I guess in a sense he's another, but not making any production products currently. If you have enough money, he might build a custom for you though.
