There was an ad for this company in the back of every Bass Player back in the day. Basically it was a low end hand crafted bass shop. I believe the basses went for $200-$700 and were very unique looking. I think you could choose from a few features to customize it but the main thing was you were buying a hand crafted (I believe) bass for very cheap.

I believe when I first registered to this forum there was even a thread where everyone chipped in $5-10 and got to rent it for a few weeks and then they'd send it to the next person.

I think a lot of members considered it was a joke ad in the back so that's why the "sharing" program got set up. Anyone remember this companies name?

Thank you so much! What's the consensus on these basses?

    Fix'd.

Because there are actually a lot of good sounding wish basses on youtube.

the playing skills made me cringe, but I thought the look and sound of the bass was pretty cool. I hear they can be hit or miss, so that would be my main concern.

Before the camera pans over to Steve, it sounds like a hog grunting.

I'm sorry... I'm sure Steve is a nice guy and all, but that music...

THAT'S what'll be playing in the "down" elevator on my way to Hell.

Mostly miss. A lot of guys here that have them essentially rebuild them. Lots of sanding, refinishing, replacement of control covers, new electronics, etc.

From what I have been able to gather about Wishbass, that is basically the point. You get a mostly completed, somewhat customized bass that you can finish and mod to your heart's content, or play it out of the box if you really want to.
