im looking for an overdrive pedal to give me a suttle little low gain so i can hear a little grit, i played an odb-3 and cant seem to get it like i want, i have an el grande bass fuzz for heavier stuff but its to intense to use all the time, i was looking into the tech 21 vtbass but do u guys have any other recommendations? thanks
I love the Way Huge Pork Loin, so many differtent tones and the ability to mix in a clean signal is a bonus. Plus it's purple and has a bacon tie in.
one those actually caught my eye today while i was at gc, my cousin swears on his fulltone ocd but ive never heard it, or his amazingly expensive aguilar rig he has lol, anyone ever try that mxr gt od on bass?
Subtle low-gain dirt, I always think of the Cream Pie, Polish Love (although it can get crazy loud if you want it), and Hyper Pak. Of the pedals that I don't own, you might try the Pork Loin as mentioned above, or a Voodoo Labs Sparkle Drive.
i was looking at the pork loin but since im in high school and work at oreilly auto parts its a little out of my price range thats why i was wondering about the mxr, i love my el grande as far as fuzz goes but i want low gain for some of my bands originals and the fuzz doesnt cut it all the time
Dang, you mentioned Fulltone, I like their Bassdrive a lot too, but might also be out of your price range. What about the used market? Here is a great place, I've had all great experiances with buying from other TB'ers. Or that bay place.....
in your price range, you really ought to try a Digitech "Bad Monkey", or better yet the Humphrey-modded one which he calls the "Badder Monkey". Truly great bang per buck in that pedal.
+1 for the Fulltone Bassdrive Great pedal. Retains your tone wonderfully, while adding some woolly-ness. Plus there is a boost to add more gain if you so desire
The Fulltone OCD, while being a great pedal for both low and high gain territories is more Tubescreamer-ish as far as EQ response. You'll get a boost in the mids (which I personally like), but it will cost you some (albeit limited) bass loss. It's not what I would call subtle either. The Fulltone FatBoost v1, however, is a fairly subtle boost with a nice range of gain on tap and a bass boost, believe it or not. It isn't perfectly transparent (a little high end roll off that can be countered with the tone control), but more so than the VT you mentioned. I can only speak for the v1 though. I hated v2 (red) and have yet to play v3. Originals can be found on eBay in the $100-$150 mark.
