can someone tell me what type of tone capacitor is used on a Fender MIA jazz bass control plate. I want to build one and see all types available.

    Thanks.

  2. I don't know what specific type of capacitor Fender chose for the MIA Jazz basses, but it really doesn't matter. For this application, there is no difference in tone with various capacitor compositions. (Provided the tolerances are tight of course.)

The standard value for a tone control would be 0.047uF.
Voltage rating doesn't matter, as you are only dealing with a few hundred milliVolts.

Pick whatever you want, but just be sure to get a non-polarized capacitor.

I like Orange Drop capacitors personally, they are decently priced, and the tolerance is usually reasonable IME.
