Well, I received this bass this aftenoon, and I'm truly sad to say it is already sold !. I say that because I am truly diggin' this thing. And it is only fair to give praise when a job is well done. The finish is spotless. I can't say I have ever seen a glassier finish. The feel is as comfy as it gets, This one is very warm with these new pickups, Carey's design. The Aguilar OBP3 sound the best I have heard it on a bass yet- The added passive tone control is very useful. A thick natural tone, I love pau ferro fingerboards- I forgot how much since a Ken Bebensee I owned for a little bit. I prefer it to rosewood any day. The Box Elder Burl top is so rich and thick and creamy looking, it just looks like it tastes good- As fine a bass as I have ever seen, bar none. ELEGANT!! I won't post my pics since the ones from Carey's site are better.. but I will take some tomorrow and if I get chance do quick mp3 of it before it ships out.. I'll keep the owner under wraps since he is a TB'er and I am sure he will want to report.. Thanks , Carey!! A - , man!- peace, Adrian
As I already said, this is my favorite bass from Carey!!! I really like its look, simple and elegant! Kudos to both of you for woods combos and hardware choices! Peace, JP
Haha... The knobs are really cool too. Like their shape a lot. Carey told me they were new from Allparts. Peace, JP
Damn, I really can't stand the looks of basses with that huge hump. The cream color is a bit putrid as well. Just out of curiosity, do you guys that like the above bass also dig a passive mia p-bass?
hey, don't stress over me! i don't even worry about me! you better skip Jeff Rader's soon to come thread. His is a hideous, rotting twisting , tumor infested, rancid piece of work ! yuckkkkk!!!! FUUUUG-LEEEEE !!!!
I would have liked to see that one in person. hat wood looks great! I especially like the "naked" fretboard. I look forward to seeing a review from the new owner. Jeff ps. Mine should be here within a few hours!
Very classy looking beautiful instrument! Nice work, Carey! Confidential to the owner - watch out for that Adrian, he's likely to try and talk you out of the sale just so he can keep that one!
Yes, it did turn out to be an exceptionally elegant bass, and it's now the wallpaper on my PC at home (for the moment, anyway). I'm looking forward to a review, too. Speaking of naked fretboards, I'm also glad to hear that yours is done, and would love to hear what you think of that stabilized snakewood! Mike
Man Adrian that is beautiful! Are you going to keep it? If I was in the market for another bass I would have called you a while back. No more basses this year. Oops....I see now that is already sold. Is the lucky person a TBer? Dan
Wow....JP might have some competition as for the single cut 5's Nah...I like JP's better, but damn thats a neat looking single -Jon
I hope that I'll be able to try one out when I come up to Las Vegas in September. I haven't seen a Nordstrand in Hawaii yet.
You are correct Adrian. Jon has the bass in Honolulu. Also, thanks to everyone for all the nice comments you've made. It really makes it all worth it to have my work so appreciated. Thanks again!
