In the new SAMASH catalog they have a Carlo Robelli (house brand) 8 string. Has anyone had the courage to try one of these? I have an old Washburn B-20-8 (Explorer style) 8 string with a screwed up neck (stripped truss rod) and love the sound of the octive strings and the harmonics they produce. The price on the Carlo Robelli ($349) makes it awfully tempting. Any comments?

Yeah. I played one at my local Sam Ash. The silver sparkle finish is kind if gaudy, but it is an interesting sounding bass. The one Humbucker pu is louder and warmer than an MM pu, but it is good sounding. If I had the cash, I might buy one, but don't be a sucker and pay for $350. The most I would pay would be $300. The tag on the bass is only the price if that's what you'll give em.
