Carlos Henriquez in the Magic Hour

So I finally decided after reading this site forever to make my first post as I've just decided to change my major to music and have double bass be the instrumental emphasis. I've been in the mood today to listen to all the bass players that inspired me to pick up the instrument and found my way back to a video of Wynton Marsalis' band playing at some convention for Apple. It came with his live E.P. on iTunes. Carlos Henriquez is amazing in this performance. His solo is so musical and inspiring. He holds his own with the rest of the group and finally convinced me that the bass doesn't just have to be the guy who stands in the back and keep time, (there were some people in my development who just wanted me to be that guy.) Just the way he looks and the way he plays made me want to play double bass more than any other instrument I've ever seen. I'd been playing guitar for 6 years at that point and had just transfered to bass guitar to play in my high school's jazz band, but this video made me play double bass. Sorry for the longwinding, scatterbrained post, but I'm just in such a great mood and haven't seen much discussion of Carlos on the boards.
