Welp, I don't know how many experience carpal tunnel syndrome but its terrible. Totally makes my playing super hard to do. 30 years of computer graphics taking its toll. Was diagnosed with it back in 2007, I knew I had it. Like a dummy I didn't get it done because I couldn't hang with the idea of not being able to wipe my bungally. Now Ive got no insurance and its really bad. Totally sucks... wish there was some experimental new procedure that needed guinea pigs... Id be right there man. Don't know what to do now at 46 Ive raised two boys / hoodlums and now all I want to do is play music. Any ideas folks??

I had the release operation done arthroscopicly on my right wrist seventeen years ago. I can still play bass and acoustic guitar with either a pick or fingerstyle. The only thing I can't do anymore is play keyboards which is fine because I wasn't very good anyway.

Try a short scale with fairly low tension

Good point. Whenever I get tendonitis in my left elbow I reach for my short scale Fender Bass VI. I have it strung with Labella flats and it's really easy on the arms.
