    Here's a supplement to Smash's B1500 thread.
This is the bass & drum trax from a home recording.

This was recorded using the B1500's line out, DBX160X in the effects loop 4:1 ratio, only slight threshold reduction set to compress the really low notes.
Into a Tascam 2488, EQ off, attenuated all the way down on the way in so I could get as much B1500 as possible. Premastered in 2488 w/out any mastering tools.
WAV to MP3Pro using DFX7 volume enhance, to keep from loosing as many frequencies in the conversion. 2.83MB. 4:05

I'm playing drums on this as well.

Not sure how many downloads Ripway allows per day. I haven't checked the actual download & if there's any problems I'll fix it.

You're a much better drummer than I am.
    That amp is *solid.*

Two q's: was the B1500 set flat? Where were voluem and tone on your bass?

    thanks for the post!

The EQ is pretty much flat. All takes had the sub bass rolled out a notch & treble half a notch. I did a bunch of takes to see what didn't work EQ wise. They were all pretty good, but recording flat is where it's at!
My mahogany fretless has a lot of lows built in, so I slightly boost mid @ 200hz & treble @ 2.5 to open it up a little.

I checked the original MP3pro folder against the sample being posted & it lost some crispness & brilliance on the download.

Damn, I've been trying to download this for the last couple of days and all I get is the "bandwidth exceeded" message... any chance of posting it on rapidshare or something?

I have more tracks but check out my band

All B1500 direct - with some effects though - but it records very nicely

    Signal chain:

B1500 line out to Focusrite Saffire Pro into Garageband.

Pick tone with a p-bass and flats.

any grind you hear has been added.

Oh and go easy on the vocals - wasn't a good day. :D

I like the sound on "BFG." When you say, "any grind you hear has been added," does that mean we're NOT hearing the drive control on the B1500? If we're not hearing the drive control, what ARE we hearing, because that sound is VERY nice. Also, when you say, "B1500 direct - with some effects though," what effects did you use?

    Great stuff, man. Thanks!

Little bump for my question above. I know this is an old thread, but I'm really curious about the sound on that song. Is it Carvin or is it Memorex? Or... something else...?
