For those have had a custom Carvin made, how do you find their estimated build time are they usually on time, ahead of time or late with delivery. I recived a post card saying it will be compleate on July 11th when do you actually think it will be here. Thanks

I ordered my BB75P on Dec. 31, 2002. Sean told me that built times were running about four weeks. Exactly twenty-eight days later, it was complete. So yeah, they have a pretty good idea how long it will take. The postcard I got said it would be complete on Jan. 31, 2003, but that turned out to be the day I actually received it. Sometimes build times can be delayed, like say the finish doesn't come out just right and they decide to re-do it. That adds time, but it's better than getting something that's not right. Or if you call to change some of the options, that can delay it too, if they have to go back and change something that was already done. I've heard stories on the Carvin BBS of people getting them way late, and even of a few arriving quite a bit early. But those are the exceptions and not the rule. Enjoy your new Carvin.
The post card said July 11 for compleation, the feeling i am getting is that is when they expect it to be delived, what do you think
I wouldn't be surprised. I think they add a few days to the time when they send you a postcard because they'd rather you be pleasantly surprised by getting it early than b1tching about it being late. Like I said, my sales rep told me "about four weeks." The postcard date was 31 days after I ordered. The bass was completed in 28 days (exactly four weeks). Build times do change depending on lots of things, like how many orders they have on backlog. A couple years ago, it was running eight to ten weeks. But they were telling people that on the phone and on the postcard. Their predictions were still pretty accurate.
I've ordered two basses from Carvin and each time they've beat the schedule that they committed to by at least a week. By the way, both basses were well worth the wait!
