I am wondering if the voicing of each of these will be a good pairing?

I have an opportunity to get a used swr megoliath for about $500

will the 500W carvin be enough to power this big guy?

I also have a 2x10 and a 4x10 so I'll have the small, medium and large gig rigs covered.

Does anyone here currently run their bx500 through a megoliath - comments?

I can't speak specifically for the Carvin, but I have run a G-K 700rb-II thru a Megoliath, and although the G-K was "only" 480 watts, it was crushingly loud... So loud, in fact that I was never able to use even half of the available volume...

IMO/IME, the Megoliath is one of the best ported 810s on the market - 2nd only to Mesa's PH810, and only by a narrow margin... If you're looking for massive lows, lots of volume, and clear highs - you'll be quite happy with the Megoliath's performance...

BX500 into an Aguilar GS412 1200w cab. No problems.

Whether the "voicing" will be to your taste is entirely up to you. With the BX500's EQ section you can make it do pretty much anything you want.

thanks, good to know I won't be underpowering the cab.

I am thinking of running the mego stereo:
clean tone through the bx500 -> top mego 4x10
overdriven a'la MXR m80 tone through an ampeg PB250
    into the bottom mego 4x10

then I can blend and eq the two to taste and don't need separate cabs!

looking for that 3-dimensional bass tone :bassist:
