Hey guys i have the choice between a 4 string bunny or LB70. I play mostly jazz and blues plus being sorta new i do a lot of theory and scales. These basses seem very similar but i wanted to ask for a more educated perspective on carvins.

The main difference between the two is the body shape and the neck might have different measurements. I can't remember if the 4 string BB had a unique neck or if it was the same neck as the LB. I know the 5 string neck for the BB was unique.

Personally, I'd grab the BB70. I have a BB75, an LB75 and an LB70 in my Carvin collection. I don't have a BB70, but I remember trying one out back in the '90's and really liking it.

The BB series Carvins are, in my opinion, one of the finest ergonomic designed "conventional" basses made. The body shape and neck shape are very comfortable to play. Of that size and basic pattern, you won't find much of anything better, in any price range. The LB series are good basses too, but they are much more normal feeling. The BB's are an improved design, vintage jewels.

The BB75 has an asymmetrical neck shape, and I'm pretty sure the BB70 does too. It's not radical, and it does make the neck more comfortable, in my opinion. My BB75's neck is wonderful.

I would say BB70 if all other things are equal, but they may not be. Do you have pictures of both basses? For example, certain eras are notorious for broken truss rods.

  5. Which one has more factory upgrades?

Bunny for sure. No question. That model has the fixed truss rod and newer electronics.

Or please tell me where it is so I can get it if you don't!

They should pretty much sound and play the same (not sure if the BB has a different neck profile). I always thought the BB was a little funny looking but that one is pretty

The BB is much newer. Hipshot bridge means its 2006 or newer. It may even have J99a pickups, as well.

My BB70. Satin Copperhead Metallic. A fantastic bass, solid as a rock with super low action. I call it my super Jazz.

    bar BB70.

My LB (early 90's) has the asymetrical neck. It was not limited to BB. But, between the two, get the BB.
