im considering either a new carvin passive /active pre or a bart 3 band vol/vol ; bass/treb ; mid push pull? it will be used with a set of bart 9js. what do you guys think will do the tricK?
  2. Go for the Bart...by a longshot.

Carvin electronics have always seemed dull, lifeless, and boring to me.

I love my Carvins, but for use with Bart pickups, I'd certainly use a Bart pre. I don't know what bass they are going in, but the Carvin Preamp will only fit the knob layout drilled on a Carvin bass body.

I replaced the preamp in my Carvin with a Bart. The Bart sounds better.
