Carvin R1000 Compessor

Discussion in 'Amps and Cabs [BG]' started by Roger Heroux, Sep 27, 2000.

  1. I was checking the stat's and wondered is there only two setting for the compressor 3:1 & 5:1? Can you turn off compressor? Why is the noisegate useless?

I have the unit. According to Carvin, the compressor threshold range is -10 dB to -35 dB and the ratio range is 1.3:1 to 5:1. Both are variable. It is a nice compressor, and yes, it effectively deactivates when the controls are set far counterclockwise.

The noise gate, however, is another story. The control is way too sensitive, and it seems to be slow responding. I don't have much experience with gates, but this one doesn't really cut it. On the other hand, the amp is pretty quiet, so unless you have really noisy input (bass and/or effects), you probably won't really need it anyway.
