What do you guys think? Who makes the better cabinet?
I've owned both and it's not even close. Avatar blows Carvin away!!!!
avatar hands down!
*dodges thrown pieces of trash"
concur...and cost less (or at least they used to?)
ps: I am not a Carvin "basher", I like my R1000 just fine.
And yes Ive owned Carvin before too, and thy are not bad, But I think Avatar is better. Especially in terms of customer service. Dave is a great guy both before and after the sale. These days thats a big plus
Have owned both. Avatar was better all around.
avatar!!! all cos of the better speakers.
ONLY thing i don't like is that i had to add a speakon input. not a huge deal though.
I'm about to do that to my 410. Where did you mount yours?
I'm not sure if I can have a real unbiased opinion because my Carvin speaker (a 1x15) and my Avatar cab (a 4x10) are different types of cabs, but my Avatar definitely sounds and feels like a much better cab to me.
Irrelevant, as my choices here are between Carvin, Carvin and Carvin.
Never tried Avatar...isn't that those things next to your name? Those little photo things?
I just got an Avatar B112 for Christmas & I love it. I is sooooooo much easier than lugging my 4-10" or 2-15" cabs around.
I used it on its first gig this weekend in a small club & it had no problems. It definately helps to give me the tone I look for.
I have read too many posts about the Carvin construction pitfalls, and I think only 1 about Avatar.
Isn't that always the case. The people who like Carvin cabs are the ones who haven't played through anything else . . .
You said "it had problems". What kind of problems? Just curious.
I forgot the "no" before problems.
It really is a nice cabinet. Especially when I think of the price.
DougD...I replaced one of the 1/4 in. jacks in my Avatar cabinets with a Speakon. It required the use of a stepped drill bit (or a 15/16 (I think, measure the body diameter of the Speakon to be sure)) to hog out the existing hole.
Be careful, the shoulder on the Speakon jack is pretty narrow and doesn't allow much room for error in drilling.
My installations went cleanly though and I'm sure glad I did it...
Both... well, sort of. I've played a Carvin bass through my Avatar Cabs. Both manufacturers make nice products.
I think the Carvins are a better deal these days!
WHICH Carvin cabs?
The BRX 410 and 210 (a shame they do not make a BRX 15.1NEO) will light up the Avatars in a head-to-head, but I think the Avatar equivalents of the Carvin BR cabs absolutely destroy them.
My vote is:
Carvin BRX v. Avatar? CARVIN
Carvin BR v. Avatar? Avatar
