I was at my buddy's house last night to jam and record and didn't bring my amp so I used his Carvin X100B head though his Mesa 2x12 cab. It was awesome! I've always been a bit of a Carvin fanboy, and was excited to try it, but I was just blown away at how good my bases sounded through it. My current rig is a Carvin PB150 through a Carvin 1x15 cab, so I'm sure playing through a tube rig is going to sound differently than my solid state rig. Last week I played through his my Mesa Boogie (Mark V?) head and the same 2x12 cab and it didn't sound nearly as good. Anyone use the X100B for bass, or have a recommendation for a similar Carvin tube bass amp/head? The later made ones seem pretty reasonably priced, he got his for $300!
