I am looking for a new rig, I was wondering about Carvin stuff but I dont know much about them, I liked to specs on their big cabs and their amps look pretty well defined. I really wasnt looking for a combo but their cyclops looks like a beast! anyone know much about their stuff??

My only thought about super-big combo amps is that you will have a hard time transporting one. The thing weighs 108 pounds.
  3. Serach, my friend, search. Much has already been said on this topic.

I'll add this. Many (though by no means all) folks with some experience with the gear feel that the BRX stuff is generally superior to the RedLine stuff. If you're looking for a combo, I hear good things about the new BRX212. I've played the Cyclops and, perhaps more to the point, tried to lift it, and I can say that wrestling the Cyclops around could get old very quickly, for my middle-aged back anyway.

I dont mind I have my own trailer and we have some extra help so it really would be nice with the casters and all, I've set in with bands with ampegs and once the guy had a mo-bass and both were awesome! the tones were the best with the big mongo cabs, I have always though of getting an ampeg rig but theres so much stuff out there now days its really over my head! I play classic rock and some funk and just want to hear the full range I'll carry the darn monster if it delivers!
  5. If you don't mind humping gear, you'd be better off with a head and cab than with the Cyclops IMHO. I've played the Cyclops and wasn't crazy about it, though YMMV. I do have a B1500 head, and I think it's very good indeed. You could consider this:

    or this:

And this is the combo I mentioned:

for the money those look good, I was going to try to stay around that range but its been SOOO long since I've shopped for a rig I am like a freakin baby! so the BRX series is better than the red line?
  7. To me, yeah. Others may disgree.
