$24.99... WHY?! Radio Shack & Best Buy have the Dynex adapter for that price...

Are these any better than the Phillips one for $10?

I wanted to get the Phillips adapter at WalMart, but they've been out of stock forever (or at least when I go in to purchase one).

I picked up the Dynex at Best Buy today because I'm sick of waiting. I'm hesitant to open it because of the price difference.

Does anyone know why Dynex is $25 and Phillips is $10? Is it "better"? Better sound quality? More durable?

    Anyone?

cassette adapters are cassette adapters. Don't buy into any "digital ready" nonsense. It's a fake tape head mating up with your car decks head to transfer the sound. As long as the fake head in the adapter has the piece of clear plastic as a barrier, you're golden.

Can't these be had anywhere for 5 bucks (or less) by now? I remember when they gave them away with portable CD players.

Dynex & Insignia are BestBuy, own brands. I got an Insignia digi TV/DVD that works great. Can't say I have any other experiences with their stuff tho.

I knew it... there's no reason for these things to be SO friggin' expensive. Geez...

Thank you TalkBassists! I'm going to take my dang Dynex back to BestBuy. I'm happy I didn't get impatient and open it. Although, I did get impatient enough to buy it in the first place.

Yeah... I'm gonna' find a cheap one. Thanks again! You guys rock!

    Peace

You might be able to find a portable CD player that comes w/ one pretty cheap.

Yeah there is. Its so Apple can trick people who own iPods into giving them extra money.

    Stupid people = money
Stupid people + iPods = LOTS of money

Also, you can also check Walgreens, CVS or just about any other pharmacy/convenience store you have around there. They usually have them for not much money.

I always get the generic ebay version when it comes to this stuff. When I got my new phone I had to get all new accessories for it. A USB cable, car adapter and rubber case. I could have dropped $20 on any one of those at Best Buy, instead I got all three for $15 shipped. Same thing with my Blue Tooth/USB dongle. $20+ @ Best Buy, under $5 on ebay. I did however make the mistake of buying the screen shield and a 8 gig SD card from Best Buy, and got raped accordingly.

    Eh?
Yup. It's very basic but it works well. My brother shed a little more money and has one that charges his iPod.

As long as you pick a channel where it doesn't compete with an existing station, the signal is good.

I have the Griffin model, and it indeed does charge the iPod, and love that convenience, BUT, as with many of these units, the output is so low you have to crank the volume almost twice to get equivalent volume. Not only that, but mine was designed to broadcast wirelessly from my laptop via usb (the other reason I bought it...you disconnect the FM "pod"), and it doesn't work. At all.

    Not recommended.

  17. You should not pay more than $10 for a Tape Deck Adapter.

To quabble over a few bucks is not worth it though.. I got mine at Best Buy for 10 and that is a fair price.

Also, Dynex stuff is not too bad IME.
