CD Launch night.

Discussion in 'Bass Humor & Gig Stories [BG]' started by Microbass, Mar 26, 2006.

  1. Just thought I'd write a little about our CD launch night last Tuesday in the Glasgow Barfly. We sold a bunch of teeshirts and CDs, made a bunch off of the promoter, and even got offered a support slot with Total Chaos! Sadly, we cannot fulfil the slot... :(
it would've been hilarious if we coulda made it, tho!

So anyways, once again, my Trace did more than needed. I brought the entire rig, just to be a bastard, really. No need for DI! Too loud! This was against a VERY loud snare, and mic'ed Fender guitar amps. Notibley, one our support bands MoDo - a 5 piece metal band. Their bassist had an awesome Warwick 6-banger. I was a little worried after the first band's bassist, who used an Ibanez 5 - string, which had a horrible B-string (EADG sounded good tho!). The Warwick almost gave me GAS! Everyone complimented the rig matched with the Grabber. It was dubbed "The Castle"! My G3 died out again during soundcheck. Looks like I'll have to do a complete re-wire...

here are a bunch of some excellent pix our photographer took:
To quote: "They could've been better - I was a bit drunk!"

And a live review courtsey of Live Music Direct:

The cool thing about the review, is that it's completly honest. We never even knew the guy was there!

The CD itself is quite cool - our friend Eon worked with us on it and we're happy. The mixing is a bit dodgy - the bass only really shines on good speakers with good EQing in winamp, and the kick drum isn't as felt as it should be. There are also some weird random mistakes in the tracks - which we never did, all the while, it's still cool, to have all that time spent on you for nothing!
If anyone's interested you can check out 'Kala' our newest fan favourite on our myspace, and another new song 'Dada' live from the CD launch (recorded on my Song vid cam, EQ'd a little). Videos and more audio coming soon! Our band diary is also worth a read - Stephen's a pretty good writer!

    peace ;)
  2. Sounds good!
Those were some nice pictures as well.
Glad to hear that it went well.
