  1. I need to ask a few questions on an box I plan building and I would really enjoy your input...

    1. Which musical era do you think had the best dirty bass? (late 60's, 70's for me "classic rock")

    2. How would you employ overdrive? (to save my amp)

    3. Dirt, Fart, Crunch, Buzz or Roar? (Dirt)

    4. Sharp, metalic treble or Boomy, warm bass? (boomy)

    5. Full clarity or Mud? (clear)

    6. Mild warmth or full on fire? (mild warmth)

    7. Full mix, partial mix or line mix? (line mix)

    Thanks

70's - 2 words, 1 man - CHRIS SQUIRE, he is the king of snarly dirty bass tone...

    2. How would you employ overdrive? (to save my amp)

First pedal in your chain, to drive the other pedals

    3. Dirt, Fart, Crunch, Buzz or Roar? (Dirt)

    Dirt/crunch

    4. Sharp, metalic treble or Boomy, warm bass? (boomy)

Boomy for shure, but don't forget that you need something to bite through the mix... Sharpness is an asset as well, I know it sound contradictory... but just hear me out...

    5. Full clarity or Mud? (clear)

Here is where I un-contradict myself... You see the MOST important thing in a sucsesfull bass overdrive is Transparency!!! You have to let your bass's natural tone shine through... SO you get the boom from your bass, and the Sharpness from your overdrive...

    6. Mild warmth or full on fire? (mild warmth)

suttle is the way of the walk, mild all the way...

    7. Full mix, partial mix or line mix? (line mix)

With a transparent pedal you need not think of line mix... there is no need...

    Cheers
